Best Things to Do in Savannah Georgia
1.) Visit River Street
There are so many times River Street will come up in this post for things to do in Savannah Georgia so I wanted to give you a little overview of it first! As you may have guessed from the name of it, it is right along the water.
If you’re looking for a good walkable area to do a little exploring this is perfect! There are tons of shops and restaurants all in large building that used to serve as cotton warehouses in the 1800s. There are cobblestone streets all through tons restaurants in Savannah River Street as well as shopping! And, it’s the perfect place to watch the sunset! And make sure to stop by the candy store ๐
2.) Savannah River Boat Cruise (Georgia Queen)
As you’re walking down River Street you may spot the Georgia Queen! This was one of my favorite things we did in Savannah.
The Georgia Queen is a large boat with plenty of space to stay inside in the air-conditing or walk around the outside for gorgeous views of Savannah and the river.
They offer a couple different types of cruises – dinner cruises, lunch cruises, brunch cruises, sightseeing cruises,, sunset cruises, etc. My boyfriend and I were in Savannah for Valentine’s Day so we did the “Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise.” This one was a little pricier than their other cruises, but it included an amazing three course meal and a bottle of wine or champagne! This is definitely one of the best things to do in Savannah, GA.
3.) Savannah Bee Company
The Savannah Bee Company was also one of my favorite things to do in Savannah, GA! I had a lot of people recommend going here, and to be honest I really didn’t think it was going to be that great. I probably would’ve ended up not going if it wasn’t for the fact that we were walking somewhere and just happened to stumble across it. We had time to waste so we went in!
Savannah Bee company has a mission to help save the bees. They make their own very high quality honey.
You can shop around for all their different honey products, but they also allow you to taste as many different honey flavors as you want. We ended up purchasing our three favorites, “saw palmetto”, “black sage” , and scotch bonnet pepper hot honey. All of them are delicious!
The other great thing they offer is a mead tasting. To be honest I didn’t even know what mead was, but apparently it is a fermented version of honey. Heads up it does contain alcohol! It was absolutely delicious and highly recommend checking it out!
4.) Savannah Ghost Tours
There are tons of ghost tours throughout Savannah. I tried so hard to find the specific one we did, but unfortunately couldn’t figure it out. I will say I know it was considered a more “adult” tour. They do different levels so if you are bringing kids along you can find some that maybe aren’t as scary as others.
A good ghost tour is always a fun time, but in a city like Savannah with so much spooky history there are some great stories to hear about buildings and cemeteries and more! It’s definitely one of the unique things to do in Savannah Georgia.

5.) Bonaventure Cemetery
The Bonaventure Cemetery is located on a huge property. If you’re looking for free things to do in Savannah GA, this is perfect because you don’t need a ticket to do a self-guided tour.
They also do offer free tours on the second weekend of every month! It’s a beautiful cemetery with a lot of huge tombstones. Definitely check it out while you are in Savannah!
6.) King Tisdale Cottage Home Tour
I did not get to go to the King Tisdal Cottage, because they were closed the majority of the time I was in Savannah, but I wish I had been able to go! From the outside it looks so cute, and the inside is an African – American Hertiage museum. I hope you go check it out and tell me what you think, it seems to be a great place if you’re looking for things to do in Savannnah Gerogia.
7.) Mata Hari Speakeasy
I am a sucker for a good bar – and especially if it’s a speakeasy. Unfortunately, you have to know someone who can give you the password if you want to get in. But there is an exception! They do a great burlesque show and if you want to check it out, you can just buy a ticket and you can get in without the password!
8.) Savannah Botanical Gardens
I love going to a Botanical Garden. I do a lot of solo trips and I’ve found they are such a relaxing way to spend a solo vacation. So whether you’re alone or with friends or family this is a great options of things to do in Savannah Georgia for you!
9.) Day Trip to Tybee Island
Not too far from downtown Savannah is the STUNNING Tybee Island. It’s sort of split into a couple of different sections, so I’ll give you a quick rundown.
North Beach is the quieter side of the island, but there’s still a ton to do. There’s shopping, restaurants, Georgia’s oldest and tallest lighthouse. You can rent a bike to travel around! There are also a ton of water adventures like jet skiing and deep-sea fishing.
Mid Beach is great for eating! Some of the best places to check out for something to eat are Salt Island Fish and Beer, The Deck Beach Bar and Kitchen (best waterfront views!!), and Stingray’s seafood (great if you want live music!!).
Last, but certainly not least is South Beach. South Beach is basically the downtown of Tybee Island. There are plenty of places all within walking distance. Tybrisa Street has great nightlife with plenty of music and karaoke. Take a walk down the pier and check out Sweet Dreams Bar and Grill!
