Sushi by Bou Nashville: A Hidden Gem of Luxury and Flavor
If you know anything about me (or have followed me for more than 5 seconds on Instagram), you know I am constantly trying new sushi restaurants.
I had been hearing about Sushi by Bou ever since it opened, so when I saw an ad for their “Tuna Tour,” I had to go.
The speakeasy-style restaurant is located in The Dream Hotel in Nashville.

I had such an incredible experience that I was dying to see what their normal nightly omakase-style dinners are like.
Whenever someone in my family has a birthday, we always get together for a special dinner, so of course, my pick this year was Sushi by Bou for their signature omakase dinner.
The vibes are IMMACULATE – from the chefs (who were soooo funny!!!), to the dim lighting, to the insanely amazing sushi, it feels like you’re literally transported to another world.
The Omakase Experience:

Like I previously mentioned, Sushi by Bou does its menu omakase style. Which basically means there is no menu.
If you ever go somewhere that offers omakase, you don’t order. It means “I leave the details up to you.” Basically, you are putting your trust in the chef’s hands.
Typically, with an omakase-style restaurant, the chefs are HIGHLY trained. As much as I love all sushi, anytime I’ve gone anywhere with omakase, the level of the sushi is BEYOND – and Sushi by Bou was no exception.
At Sushi by Bou, you can do their signature 12-course experience, or you can upgrade to the 17-course.
You’ll be served bite-sized nigiri prepared right in front of you as the chef explains each piece to you in a 90-minute experience.

Each piece is served in rhythm — one at a time — allowing you to fully savor the textures and freshness. Expect buttery toro, delicate salmon, rich unagi, and signature sauces brushed on with precision – oh, and my favorite is when they torch it (it tastes good, but it’s also fun to watch).
Pair it with one of their handcrafted cocktails or a premium sake flight, or even some caviar, and you’ve got one of Nashville’s most elevated dining experiences.

The Sushi by Bou Tuna Tour:
If you ever get the chance to go to the “Tuna Tour” put on by Sushi by Bou, make sure you go! You will not regret it.
I literally just saw an ad for it and was like I have to try this.
They put it on in several cities at the various Sushi by Bou locations – including places like New York City, Chicago, Miami, and now Nashville.
The chef was Chef David Bouhadana, the first non-Japanese chef to receive Japan’s prestigious Grade 1 Tuna Cutting Certification. His skill level is absolutely insane.
Your ticket purchase includes unlimited sake AND unlimited sushi.
It’s more than just a sit-down dinner – it’s a full-blown entertaining experience.
You’ll see what feels like a full-blown show. They make it so fun and exciting, and the chef is so funny!
The chef shows you the technique of cutting tuna (with a 200+ lbs tuna!!!). He even explains the different cuts and the difference between the meat.
Meanwhile, they are bringing all different kinds of nigiri around. As a server passes, you can grab individual pieces – and you can have as much as you want! I have no idea how many pieces I ate; it seemed like every time I looked up, there was another tray of sushi or sake coming around.
Once the cutting of the tuna is finished, you can one by one go behind the counter and cut your own piece of tuna off, straight from the 200 lbs tuna. And once again, you can fill your bowl as much as you want.
It was seriously one of the best experiences I have ever had, and I couldn’t recommend it more!

Final Thoughts: A Must for Sushi Lovers – Whether you’re visiting or a local
Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or just love trying hidden gems, Sushi by Bou Nashville has an unforgettable experience all around.
The sushi is by far the best I’ve ever had in Nashville, TN, and definitely holds its own when I compare it to omakases I’ve done in other parts of the country.
The intimate setting, curated omakase menu, and the brand’s commitment to the Japanese technique make it a true one of the absolute best in Nashville’s culinary scene!
So next time you’re downtown, head to the Dream Hotel, find the hidden entrance, and step into one of Music City’s coolest dining secrets – trust me, you won’t regret it!
