Do you need help making your Nashville Packing List for your upcoming Nashville trip? I can help!
I was born and raised in Nashville, so I’ve spent almost 30 years experiencing every single season Nashville has to offer. It can be tricky planning what to wear because of the unpredictable weather, but don’t worry I’ll make sure you’re prepared for anything.
I also have been playing music on Broadway since 2019 so I’ve seen ALL the outfits you can possibly think of, from bachelorette party looks, to festive family attire, and everything in between. (p.s. come see me if you’re visiting Nashville! I keep my schedule pretty up to date on my website www.MeganGolden.com but you can also DM me on Instagram @MeganAGolden and I’ll send you my schedule for the days you’re in town!)
The “Nashville” style is typically trendy but laid back. Filled with Southern charm and maybe some sparkles here and there 🙂 Downtown you’ll see lots of cowboy boots, denim, fringe, and flowy dresses. Incorporating comfort and trends is typical because you’ll probably be doing lots of walking and dancing!
Overall Nashville is really a pretty casual city, if you’re heading down to Broadway you’ll see everything from jeans and a t-shirt to people getting all done up. I’ll include something for everyone on this list, so you can plan for whatever your personal vibe is and hopefully, you’ll be able to piece together some cute outfits that fit your taste!
You definitely don’t NEED to wear anything super fancy for most of Nashville. If you plan on going out to a really nice dinner though to celebrate a special occasion, just double-check to see if there is a dress code. It’s pretty rare in Nashville, but there are some places that require a little fancier outfit than you might otherwise plan on wearing in Nashville.
Although Nashville rarely gets SUPER cold, the weather can be very unpredictable. Always make sure you keep checking the weather on the days leading up to your trip, but if you use this list to pack you’ll be set for whatever curve ball the weather decides to throw that day.

This post is the Ultimate Nashville Packing List: What to Wear in Nashville Tennessee!
This guide covers:
- What to wear in Nashville by season
- Broadway outfit ideas
- What NOT to wear
- A printable packing checklist
- My favorite travel essentials
Let’s make sure you pack right the first time 🙂
The Ultimate Nashville Packing List: What to Wear in Nashville!
What to wear in Nashville by season:
Nashville has four distinct seasons — and they can shift fast. There can be a little back and forth so come prepared!
🌸 Spring in Nashville (March–May)

Spring temperatures range from the 50s to the 80s — sometimes in the same week. I play on rooftops all year long, and during this time of year, I always bring layers! It’s common for a day to start off absolutely beautiful and end freezing cold!
Also, rain can come out of nowhere, so layers are everything.
What to Pack for Nashville in Spring:
- Denim jacket or lightweight cardigan
- Ankle boots (broken in)
- Casual dresses
- Light-wash jeans
- Crossbody bag
- Compact umbrella

☀️ Summer in Nashville (June–September)

Summer is HOT. Expect 90+ degrees and humidity. I swear it gets hotter every year lol. I’ve played gigs where I literally put wet rags with ice in them on my neck because it’s so hot.
If you’re going to Broadway in July, come prepared!
What to Pack for Nashville in Summer:
- Breathable dresses or rompers
- Shorts + lightweight tops
- Broken-in boots or sandals
- Portable handheld fan
- Anti-chafe stick
- Travel-size deodorant
Avoid: heavy fabrics and brand-new boots (you will regret having to wear them around!!! It will hurt!!).

🍂 Fall in Nashville (October–November)

And now entering almost everyone’s favorite season!! Fall is the peak Nashville aesthetic. Like seriously, the pics are BOMB with Nashville fall fashion combined with perfect weather, and leaves on the ground (go to 12 South in the fall and thank me later!!)
Crisp mornings, warm afternoons — and boots everywhere of course 🙂
What to Pack for Nashville in Fall:
- Sweaters
- Leather or denim jacket
- Knee-high or ankle boots
- Dark jeans
- Wide-brim hat
Fall is perfect for layering and statement pieces. This is your time to shine and have some fun with your looks!

❄️ Winter in Nashville (December–February)

Winter ranges from 30–50°F. ( And sometimes even colder unfortunately)
We don’t get heavy snow often — but when we do, it’s like the entire city shuts down. What’s worse, though is we do tend to get pretty bad ice – we had a rough ice storm this past year.
Here’s what I think you should pack to stay cute and warm all at the same time!
What to Pack for Nashville in Winter:
- Warm coat
- Sweaters
- Closed-toe boots
- Scarf + gloves
- Layering tops

What to Wear on Broadway at Night

As someone who plays on Broadway, here’s the honest truth:
There’s no official dress code — but some people DO dress up. It can be all over the place.
You’ll see:
- Cowboy boots
- Mini dresses
- Fringe
- Leather jackets
- Matching bachelorette outfits
- A little of EVERYTHING
What you definitely don’t want to wear:
- Thin heels (sidewalk cracks are real, and trust me, you don’t want to be face-planting)
- Heavy bags (a lot of bars check your bags, and you won’t want to be lugging that around. tbh I suggest NO bag)
- Uncomfortable shoes
Broadway Outfit Formula I suggest:
✔ Mini or midi dress
✔ Statement boots
✔ Crossbody bag
✔ Layer you can remove (crowded bars get hot! – especially if you like to dance!)

Nashville Outfit Ideas
If you don’t feel like planning your outfit, I’ve even put a few together for you!
Nashville Bachelorette Outfit Ideas
- Boots
- Fringe sets
- Cowgirl hats
- Statement jewelry

Casual Nashville Day Outfit
- Graphic tee
- High-waisted jeans
- Comfy Shoes
- Simple crossbody

Nashville Concert Outfit
- Denim shorts
- Boots
- Tank + oversized jacket
What NOT to Wear in Nashville
Sometimes the best way to decide what to wear is to know what you definitely SHOULD NOT wear. And trust me, these are the things you definitely want to leave behind!
- Brand-new boots
- Thin stilettos
- Heavy makeup in July (I promise you it will melt straight off your face in two seconds)
- Overly formal outfits
- Huge tote bags for Broadway
Comfort + style > costume. Certain fun clothing items may seem like a good idea, but the last thing you’ll want is to be miserable all night. I’m telling you from experience – you will want to focus on having FUN not trying to find a place to sit because your feet are throbbing.
My Nashville Travel Essentials
