November is such a beautiful month to travel. So many places with almost perfect weather. So many places that are beautiful with the changing colors of the leaves.
Maybe you want to spend some time in a new place with your family for Thanksgiving – maybe you just are in need of a quick getaway – whatever it is, you’ll find some good inspiration right here to plan your November getaway!
This post is all about the best places to travel in November!
Best Places to travel in November!
1.) Smokey Mountains – Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge
Well, being a Nashville native, I have to start out with a great quick trip from Nashville. Gatlinburg is about 3 and half hours from Nashville, and Pigeon Forge is literally right down the street from there. They are practically the exact same area.
If you are looking for beautiful fall scenery this is the best place for you. I’m telling you this place is STUNNING in the fall. The last time I went I stayed in a suite-style hotel room, but I’ve also stayed there several times in cabins.
Cabins are a great option – especially if you are going with a group. It can be pretty inexpensive if you are splitting it between several people – and they are so beautiful!
There are a million things to do in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge so there is something for everyone! Here are some of my favorites:
- Ole Smokey Moonshine Tasting
- Visit the mountaintop park – Anakeeste (enjoy rides, drinks, outdoor activities, and amazing views)
- Ripley’s Believe It or Not
- Hillbilly Golf
- Ober Gatlinburg
- Skylift Park
- Alcatraz East Cime Museum
2.) New York City, New York
On the total other end of the spectrum, we have New York City. It’s equal on the list of best places to travel in November even though it’s so much different than The Smokey Mountains.
New York starts to get a little chilly in November, but I think it’s the perfect fall weather. New York can get REALLY hot and REALLY cold, so November tends to be a good time that gives you something a little more in between.
If you’re planning on going to New York City in November here’s some of my recommendations of things to do:
- Central Park (obviously! Perfect for good weather!)
- Summit One Vanderbilt (amazing views and unique art!!)
- Grab a drink at the Regency (tbh just throwing this in cause I love the Real Housewives of New York City)
- Jack’s Wife Freda (great brunch spot!)
- World Trade Center Memorial
- South Seaport Pear 17
- Go to a Broadway Musical
- Empire State Building
- Ama Raw Bar (the BEST oyster happy hour!!)
3.) Miami, Florida
November is a great time to visit Miami if you’re looking for the best place to travel. Temperature-wise, the weather is so nice, but the rainy season is also over! Miami can get pretty busy in the winter as well, so you shouldn’t have to deal with too many crowds just yet.
Here’s some things to check out while you’re in Miami in November:
- Eat at Gianni’s Restaurant at The Villa Casa Casuarina (The Versace Mansion)
- Check out the beach (duh!)
- Take a sunset cruise
- Go resort hopping! You can get day passes for luxury hotels to use their pools and spas.
- Frost Museum of Science
4.) Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston is such a beautiful city, so it’s always a fun one to visit no matter what time of year – but in November the weather is soooo nice!
Here’s what you can do while you’re spending a little fall vacation in Charleston:
- Explore the French Quarter
- Charleston Tea Garden
- Walk down Rainbow Row
- Take a ghost tour
- Visit Fort Sumter and take a boat tour
- Take a harbor boat tour
5.) Savannah, Georgia
I absolutely love Savannah, Georgia. If you’re considering going check out my post on the best things to do in Savannah!
Here’s a quick list of what I loved doing while I was there:
- Walk and shop down River Street
- Savannah River Boat Cruise (The Georgia Queen)
- Mead and honey tasting at the Savannah Bee Company
- Ghost Tour
- Day trip to Tybee Island
6.) Hawaii
If you’re looking to do a bigger trip, Hawaii is AMAZING! It’s one of my favorite places on earth.
Every island is beautiful, but I’ll focus on the two I visited when I was there.
I stayed on O’ahu, but since it’s so easy to take a short plane trip to the other islands, we spent a day on The Big Island as well. Here’s some of the coolest things we did:
- Lay out on Waikiki Beach (try some surfing!)
- Go to a Luau (HIGHLY recommend!!)
- Visit Pearl Harbor
- Whale watching tour
- Hanauma Bay (amazing snorkeling!)
- Byodo-in Temple
- Helicopter ride to see waterfalls and volcanos on the big island
7.) Nassau, Bahamas
If you’re in the mood for an island this November, here’s another option! November is when the rain and storm season is coming to a close, and the weather starts to drop to more pleasant temperatures than the extreme heat in the summer. This is definitely one of the best places to visit in November.
The best part about being in the Bahamas is really just being able to lie by the ocean and relax, but here’s a couple other fun options to take advantage of too:
- Day trip to Exuma Island (you can swim with pigs!!)
- Go shopping at the straw market
- Get a day pass for Aquaventure at the Atlantis Hotel
